My client are one of Ireland’s leading company providing environmental and industrial cleaning services to the pharma, construction, food production, wastewater, power gen & dairy industries, Based in the Midlands, 6 kms from the motorway and commutable from Kilkenny, Thurles, Portlaoise the company has been in operation for over 20 years, employs over 70 staff across the organisation and is now recruiting for a H & S Officer.

YOUR NEW JOB

Day to day some of the key elements of the H & S Specialist job will include:

  • Ensure that other employees can complete their work safely, by establishing safety standards for the workplace, both internally and out on sites, based on legal requirements and to help and inform employees understand and implement these rules.
  • Ensure timely completion and delivery of accurate, factually correct method statements and risk assessments and ensure that all employees adhere to the tasks as set out in same. Makes sure that all field staff clearly understand task requirements and that they have the necessary tools to undertake the works safely.
  • Assist the Health and Safety manager in advising the leadership team, foster a strong safety culture, and inspire positive behavioral changes throughout the company.
  • Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events and co-ordinate with health and safety manager on the delivery of group level health and safety reports, working in compliance with monthly reporting deadlines.
  • Develop, run and manage internal safety initiatives, and built on a current positive safety culture within the company
  • Attend operational sites on a regular basis to carry out safety audits on company teams, but also audits on sub-contractors engaged on company projects. Assist and provide input at project planning stage, ensuring that safety risks as mitigated and that projects and tasks are undertaken and completed without incident or injury.
  • Work in conjunction with the technical director in the preparation for and participation in annual certification audits.
  • Completion of toolbox talks on customer sites.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

You will be qualified to minimum Level 7 in Health & Safety and have 3 years + relevant H & S experience. You will need a full clean drivers licence and a company vehicle will be provided with the position.
