Head of Finance – Leadership Opportunity in the Not-for-Profit Sector
A leading organisation dedicated to providing vital residential and day services is seeking an accomplished Head of Finance to play a pivotal role in driving financial excellence, governance, and strategic oversight. The Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and as a key member of the Senior Management Team, the Head of Finance will be responsible for ensuring financial compliance, robust governance, and strategic financial planning. The successful candidate will lead a finance team in managing budgeting, reporting, audits, and financial controls, ensuring the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
This position requires a strong leader who can provide both strategic insight and hands-on financial oversight, working closely with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, auditors, and funding agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function, ensuring best practices in financial governance and compliance.
- Develop and implement financial policies aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to support organisational goals.
- Manage relationships with auditors, advisors, and key external stakeholders.
- Lead financial planning initiatives to enhance cost efficiency and sustainability.
- Provide leadership to the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure effective financial controls, monitoring budgets and variance analysis.
- Support senior leadership in strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis.
The Ideal Candidate
- A fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- At least five years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of three years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience in financial planning, reporting, and budget management.
- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence strategic decisions.
- Exceptional leadership and team development skills.
- Experience in the not-for-profit, charity, or healthcare sector would be an advantage.
- Ability to manage change and drive process improvements within a financial function.
