Financial Controller – Construction | Wicklow (Hybrid)
Location: Wicklow (Hybrid – three days on-site, two days WFH after six months)
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Transport: Own car required due to location
Are you a commercially driven financial controller with experience in the construction industry? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments, leading teams, and optimising financial performance? This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a finance function within a well-established company and play a key role in its strategic growth.
Key responsibilities:
- Partnering with the finance director to drive the financial strategy and performance of the business
- Leading and managing a finance team of four, ensuring high performance and efficiency
- Overseeing all aspects of payroll, supplier, and subcontractor financial functions
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, along with other financial reports
- Maintaining and managing multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional transactions, ensuring compliance
- Reviewing and authorising payment files on banking platforms
- Ensuring full regulatory compliance (VAT, tax, and other financial obligations across various jurisdictions)
- Preparing annual budgets and cashflow forecasts (short-term and long-term)
- Collaborating with the commercial department to ensure accuracy in cost estimations for projects
- Supporting external audits and working with tax advisors and global payroll teams
- Driving continuous improvement, streamlining financial processes, and implementing efficiencies
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with a minimum of three years post-qualification experience
- Five or more years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of European accounting principles, currency transfers, and multi-jurisdictional finance
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams in a dynamic environment
- Highly commercially aware, with a proactive, results-driven mindset
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to provide actionable financial insights
- High levels of integrity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- A full driver’s licence is required due to the location
